10月12日下午的CAS活动,上海宏润博源学校升学部门展开全校性目标教育活动。鉴于各个年级同学的升学任务和目标各有不同,升学部门为预备年级到12年级的同学准备了不同的活动:上半场,预备年级和10年级同学在教学楼参加2场自我探索活动,11年级的同学集中在图书馆聆听Chris校长的升学指导讲座,12年级的同学准备最后的大学申请工作;下半场,全校同学们集中在礼堂,Chris校长为如何设定合理可行的升学目标与同学们再次深度地探讨。

At the CAS session on the afternoon of Oct. 12th , the college advising department of SHBS organized a school-wide instructive activity focused on goal setting. Considering the fact that students’ academic tasks and goals vary from grade to grade, our college advising dept. had designed different activities for students from pre grade to grade 12. During the first half of the session, students from pre grade and grade 10 played 2 rounds of games about self-exploration; 11th graders gathered at the library to attend a lecture on college application given by Principal Chris; 12th graders were busy preparing for their college application. During the second half of the session, all students gathered in the auditorium, where Principal Chris further discussed with them about how to set practical goals.

上半场:预备年级&10年级

升学部门林楚漫老师把所有预备年级和10年级同学分散到8个教室中,每个教室分别由1-2名班主任老师主导一场场别有趣味的自我探索游戏。下面我们一起来看看每间教室具体都在展开什么样的游戏吧!

间教室,老师们让同学们用 20 个诸如高大、漂亮、聪明、可爱、懒惰等形容词来描绘自我,并一一解释,为什么要用这个词来描绘自己。

第二间教室,老师们让同学们思考,“如果你是一种植物/一只动物,你希望是什么?并将这种植物/ 动物画下来,解释你选择这种植物/动物的理由。”

第三间教室,老师让同学们给自己写表彰大会。希望同学们能分析发现和展望自己的优势与特长,便于发现和培养自己的核心竞争力!

第四间教室,老师正带领同学们畅想10年后的自己,从事业,生活,家庭,社会等层面展望一下自我。

第五间教室,老师带领同学们描述并分享自己理想的高中生活,可以从自己的学业,课外活动,人际交往等多方面 详细描述自己理想中的高中生活。

Ms Chuman Lin distributed all students in the pre grade and grade 10 into 8 classrooms. In each room, one or two homeroom teachers hosted 2 rounds of interesting games on self-exploration. Next, let’s take a look at what specific games they played in each room.In room 1, students were required to describe themselves with 20 adjectives such as tall, pretty, smart, cute, lazy etc., and explain one by one why they used such a word to describe themselves.In room 2, students were asked to choose an animal or plant to represent themselves and explain why.In room 3, students were supposed to write down at least 3 strengths and specialties about themselves.In room 4, students were asked to brainstorm their life in ten years’ time.In room 5, students were required to describe their ideal high school life in all aspects - academics, extracurricular activities, interpersonal relationship and etc.

每间教室展开的游戏内容不一,但是游戏的主旨都是一致的,希望同学们能在自我探索的游戏中,增强对自身的思考。认识自己实在是个困难的过程,需要我们经常问自己一句“我是谁?” 不断反思,认识到自己的长处、发挥长处,同时也能认识到自己的短处,并不断修正或善加利用。从现场的热闹讨论和分享的氛围中,可以观察出同学们对自我的认识又有进一步的思考。

Though different games were played in different rooms, they shared the same purpose: to trigger students’ reflection on themselves through self-exploration games. Since self-understanding is really a difficult process, we often need to ask ourselves “who am I?” Through reflection and communication with others, students will be able to recognize their strengths and weaknesses, and at the same time learn to foster strengths and circumvent weaknesses. We could conclude from the heated discussion and sharing in these rooms that they did some further thinking in an attempt to understand themselves.

11年级

在校园另一端的图书馆中,11年级的同学集中在图书馆听Chris校长带来的升学指导讲座。对于11年级的同学来说,他们正处于为申请大学做准备最重要的一个阶段。首先,Chris校长带领着11年级同学从学期计划开始,确保稳定的GPA,因为这是大学招生官审核升学成绩中首先映入眼帘的一页,是所有成绩里的重中之重。

其次,校长鼓励同学们提出了对于申请学校的疑问,这样可以更好的让老师解答具体的问题,也让即将申请的同学们不再迷茫。

再者,校长建议同学们畅想了2年以后的大学生活,这让还身在11年级的同学对未来有了无限希望和憧憬。

最后,为了更好的实现这些理想,Chris校长带领同学们列出了详细时间线,看着原本虚无缥缈的理想变成一个个可以触碰到的小目标,这让同学们宛如在黑暗中看到了指路的灯塔。

In the library located at the other end of the campus, 11th graders gathered to attend a lecture on college application given by Principal Chris. For 11th graders, they are currently experiencing the most important stage for college application. Firstly, Principal Chris began his lecture with how to make a plan for each semester and how to ensure that students get a stable GPA because GPA is by far the most important record to be examined at first sight by those admission officers from universities and colleges.

Secondly, Principal Chris encouraged students to raise questions about college application so that teachers could better answer specific questions and applicants wouldn’t feel at a loss any more.

Furthermore, Principal Chris suggested the students imagine their college life in 2 years’ time, making those 11th graders look forward to their future.

Finally, in order to help them realize their dreams, Principal Chris had them draw up detailed timelines, which turned their originally illusory dreams into several reachable goals, making the students feel as if they had seen a lighthouse in the darkness.

在下半场,Chris校长在礼堂用通俗易懂的语言为同学们点亮了一盏明灯。他说, 每一个人都是不同的,有的同学适合学生较多的大学,而有的同学就比较喜欢学生数较少的文理学院;有的同学有体育特长,而有的同学是艺术特长生;有的同学倾向于摩登大都市,而有的同学偏爱宁静朴实的乡村。不要在二十年后从床上睁开眼时,才发现,自己读了父母想让自己的读的大学,学了父母想让自己学的专业,进入了父母想让自己入职的公司,和一位父母想让自己嫁娶的伴侣造成了家庭。世界上没有两片相同的雪花,也没有两个同样的人,我们要发现自己的不同之处,发展自己的特长,活成独一无二的样子。我们要对我们的每一个决定负责。现在的每一个决定,都关系到我们的未来。我们选择打游戏或是运动,我们选择和哪位同学坐在一起吃午饭,这一个个小小的决定,都是一个个小的岔道口,引领我们走向不同的人生方向。我们要学会和“无聊”相处,要学会认清当下。因为只有当我们能和“现在”好好相处,我们才能够有能力规划未来。”

During the second half of the session, Principal Chris spoke to all the students in the auditorium, making them feel as if they had seen a lighthouse in the darkness. He said that everyone is different, and some students are well suited for universities with more students, while others prefer colleges of arts and sciences with fewer students; some are talented for sports, while others are for arts; some prefer to live in modern cities, while others like quiet and plain countryside better. Never wake up in 20 years in your bed and open your eyes only to find that you attended a university, chose a major, worked a company, and were married to someone, all on your parents’ will.There are no two identical snowflakes in the world, nor are there two identical people. We need to find out how we differ from others, and need to give full play to our strengths, and try to be the unique ourselves. We should be responsible for each decision we make because it is closely related to our future. Such little decision as whether to play a game or a sport, which schoolmate to sit with at lunchtime etc. are just like fork paths leading us to different directions of our life. We should also learn to get along with boredom, and be aware of the present because only if we learn to get along with the present will we be able to plan for our future.

在这场丰富多彩的CAS目标教育中,同学们对今后高中生涯的目标设定和规划有了更加清晰的认知,也理解应该有计划地做好高中生涯的规划,找寻我们前进的动力和目标。无论是自我探索游戏,升学讲座还是目标设定的分享,同学们明白了:人的一生就是在不断地寻找、认识、完善自我的过程,对于正处于高中生的我们要活出自己想要自己成为的样子,就得为自己的每一个决定负责,走好人生道路上的每一步。同时我们也可以通过主动参加各类活动,在活动中,与人交往中,自我独处中慢慢探寻自我身上的性格特征,才能以及未知的潜能,成为更好的自己。

As a result of this enriching CAS activity, students have better understanding on how to set goals and how to plan for their future high school years, and they have realized that they should better plan for their high school years by seeking motivation and setting goals. No matter when they are playing games on self-exploration, or attending the lecture on college application or sharing their goals with others, they come to realize that life is a process in which people should keep looking for, recognizing and improving themselves. For high school students like us, if we want to live a life that we like, we should be responsible for each decision we make, and take every good step in that direction. Meanwhile, we should also explore ourselves to find our own characteristics, talents and even unknown potential and improve ourselves by actively participating in various activities and getting along with others and ourselves.
