每年秋季开学前，上海宏润博源学校都会举行为期一周的新生体验营，主要目的是让新同学们在正式开学之前熟悉彼此，熟悉老师，熟悉学校，以便正式开学之后能顺利融入。

Shanghai Hongrun Boyuan School usually organizes a week-long orientation before the autumn semester starts. The main purpose of the camp is to make new students get familiar with each other, with teachers, and the school before the semester officially starts, so that they can have a smooth transition.

体验营的活动和课程安排十分丰富，包含两天户外素质拓展训练，趣味英文体验课，趣味数学科学体验课，学校双优项目体验，商赛，博物馆之行，艺术展和结营才艺秀等。

This orientation includes two-day outdoor experience camp, fun English classes, fun mathematics and science classes, experience of school double excellent projects, business competition, museum trip, art exhibition and talent show, etc.

上海宏润博源学校丰富有趣的学科体验课

在四个半天的趣味英文体验课程里，同学们按照英语能力分组，体验了外教老师们的英语课堂活动。英语课堂从别具一格的自我介绍开始，Jay老师制作了精美的PPT，兴奋地介绍了自己的经历，兴趣爱好等，但最后却说，自己撒谎了，让同学们猜一下自己刚才讲的哪一条是谎言;Marta老师给同学们播放了一个有趣的视频片段，然后将声音关掉，让同学们分组去设计给这部短片配音，讲述一个新的完整的故事;Steven老师利用句法游戏挑战了同学们对英语句法的快速反应能力;Rita老师给每个小组发放了物资，要求设计出一个能保护鸡蛋从高处落下不会摔破的装置;Josh老师用意面和棉花糖给大家提出了棉花糖挑战;Chris老师用他一贯的幽默和智慧引导大家从最喜欢的冰淇淋口味开始聊起人生大问。

In the four half-day fun English classes, students were grouped according to their English levels and experienced the English class activities of foreign teachers. The English class began with a unique style of self-introduction. Mr. Jay made a beautiful PPT and introduced his own experiences excitedly, interests and hobbies, etc. But at last, he said that he had lied and the students need to figure out which one was the lie. Ms. Marta showed the students a funny video clip, then muted the video, and asked the students to redesign and dub it to tell a new and fun story. Mr. Steven used syntax games to challenge the students' rapid response ability to English syntax. Ms. Rita gave each group supplies and asked them to design a device that would protect the eggs from cracking after being dropped from a high place. Mr. Josh posed the marshmallow challenge with marshmallow and spaghetti;Chris used his usual humor and wisdom to steer the conversation from his favorite ice cream flavor into some essential questions about life.

类似的全英文浸入式体验活动还有很多，如同学们创建自己的虚拟公司和岗位，设计好十道面试选拔问题，面试来应聘的同学们，提出一些非常有趣味的问题;有的同学成立了婚姻介绍所，有的同学成立了公共厕所清洁公司等等。这些英语趣味体验课上充满了欢声笑语。同学们在团队合作和欢声笑语中也越来越熟悉起来，成为了队友和朋友。各位外教老师和跟班班主任也通过对同学们的观察了解了同学们的特点并再次确认了他们的英语能力分级。

There are many more fun immersive activities in English: students were asked to create their own virtual companies and vacant posts, design ten interesting interview questions, and interview three students to see who can get the job. Some students set up a match-maker company;some students set up a public toilet cleaning company and so on. These classes were always full of laughter. In teamwork and laughter, the students became more and more familiar with each other and became teammates and friends. The foreign teachers and the hoomroom teachers also learned about the students' characters and once again checked the students' English level.

学科体验课

两个半天的科学和数学体验课也非常精彩。郭壁闻老师让同学们了解到物理起源于对大自然奥秘的观察和探索，如果细心就会发现自然界中非常神奇的现象;郭老师教会了同学们如何利用空气动力的原理折纸飞机并控制纸飞机在空气中折返的方向，也做了毛细管试验，让同学们看到分子间的作用力也可以让水往高处流;当然也有关于离心力，重力，不同物质分子间作用力产生的神奇现象。化学老师全老师指导同学们测试了生活中常见溶液如洗手液，果汁等的选碱性测试，并讲解了酸碱性溶液的特征。生物老师讲解了生态系统，以及物种之间的相互作用，并带领大家制作了生态瓶。计算机张老师指导同学们基于硬件和Python编程，通过加速度传感器(accelerometer)和 5x5 LED矩阵显示屏完成多人交互游戏装置。数学钟老师引导同学们利用概率来设计“赌博”游戏吸引别的同学参与自己设计的游戏。经济林老师和杨老师让同学们对经济学这门学科有大致认识，并通过小组生产试验，让同学们发现边际量产的变化规律。 每堂课都让同学们对这门学科的研究内容有基本认识，并且通过有趣的实验激发了同学们的学习兴趣。

The two half - day fun science and math classes were also wonderful. Mr. Guo Biwen showed the students that physics originates from the observation and exploration of the secrets of nature. If you are careful, you will find the most amazing phenomena in nature. Mr. Guo taught the students how to use the principle of aerodynamics to make paper airplanes and control the direction of the paper airplanes' turning back in the air. He also conducted capillary experiments to show the students that the forces between molecules can make water flow upwards. And of course, there was also the magic of centrifugal force, gravity, and the intermolecular forces of different substances. Ms. Quan, the chemistry teacher, guided the students to test the common solutions in our daily life, such as hand sanitizer, juice, etc., and explained the characteristics of acid-base solution. Mr. Everest, the biology teacher, explained the ecosystem and the interaction among species, and asked the students to make an eco bottle. Mr. Neal Zhang instructed students to design a multi-player interactive games through some modules and programming. Math Teacher Ms. Zhong asked the students to design "gambling" games with the knowledge of the possiblibity theory to attract other students to participate. Ms. Chuman and Ms. Dawn Yang asked the students to have a general understanding of economics, and through the group production experiment, showed the students the pattern of marginal mass production. Each class gave students a basic understanding of the subject and stimulated their interest in learning through interesting experiments.

体验营结束当天，我们的体验营小编唐同学采访了不同年级同学对于学科体验课的反馈，并做了如下总结。

“虽然课程对于部分九年级的同学来说有难度，主要是语言关，但从他们上课的反应来说，他们是积极的，是气氛的带动者，是可爱的小学弟小学妹。我知道，十年级的同学们面对新的同学会有恐慌，但他们努力，奋斗，是坚持的象征。我知道，十一、十二年级的同学虽然面临着压力，但他们不畏艰险、负重前行。此次新生营的课堂，是大家的家，是大家梦想的起航点;在这里，有一个欢乐的课堂，是往后的学习生活中，最美丽的那道光。”

On the last day of the orientation, Tracy Tang, one of our reporters interviewed students of different grades for their feedback on the classed, and made the following summary.

"Although the course is difficult for some Pre-high graders, mainly because of the language challenge, they are quite positive about this and always vigorous in class. I know that 10th graders may experience panic in the face of new classmates, but their hard work is a symbol of persistence. I know that students in the 11th and 12th grades are under pressure, but they brave hardships and carry on with heavy burdens. Through this orientation, we feel that this school is our home and the starting point of our dreams. Here, we can have fun in class, which is the most beautiful light in our future study and life.
