普同学于2018年秋季，上海宏润博源学校成立伊始就进入11年级就读。普同学各方面的表现都非常优异：GPA连年获得年级和全校最高，标化考试(托福、SAT等)全校最高，创造了学校标化考试成绩的新记录等等。

Why are you so interested in linguistics?

我对语言的兴趣主要来自于两方面。：学习古代的语言可以直接阅读古代的书籍。比如，我学习古希腊语以后就可以直接看懂柏拉图、亚里士多德等作家的作品，而不用看英语或中文的译本。这样才能体会原作的精髓。第二：学习现代的语言可以方便与世界各地的人沟通还有了解不同的文化。比如，我学习西班牙语就可以学到很多关于西班牙和南美的文化知识。语言学是系统性地研究语言的一门科学，包括很多分支，比如说历史语言学、句法学等等。通过学习语言学我也可以了解语言的演变，语法的构成，还有很多语言深层次的问题，这对于学习语言本身也有很多帮助。

How did you plan for you high school years?

我在九年级时就提前制定好了四年的学习计划，之后虽然经历过转学，但是我基本按照原计划进行。比如说我在9年级时先考了一次托福，当时考了109，我就确定了我的英语水平基础是不需要花太多时间在托福上面。我从11年级开始准备SAT，为了在申请季之前出成绩一共考了两次。同时，我十一年级考了5门AP，十二年级考了4门。课外活动方面我觉得应该尽早提前规划，落实行动，不要拖到快申请了才开始。我从9年级开始学习语言，从10年级开始和其他几个同学一起做了一个关于校园霸凌的项目，11年级参加夏校和实习，同时也经常做社区服务型的活动。

我觉得我的挑战就是刚从体制内转入国际学校时的不适应。因为当时对国际学校的制度还不熟悉，也不太清楚怎么去合理地安排时间，所以就比较紧张。我认为在国际学校每个人、每位老师都有很多特点，一定要接受这种差异性才能更好的适应这个集体，不能纠结于某一点，这与我之前就读体制内学校的感受非常不一样。此外我觉得应该主动去认识你感兴趣的相关科目的老师。比如说我因为对语言感兴趣主动认识了Bonta老师，而他又教我了更多语言的知识，并且为我设立了合理的目标。这样才能充分发挥每个人的特长。

我录取的学校是加州大学洛杉矶分校UCLA。我的目标是本科毕业后到法学院学法律，所以本科的专业我报了一些人文学科并且我有AP基础的科目，比如历史，语言学，政治科学。最后学校给我分配到了政治科学。我觉得本科的专业可以根据你的优势和兴趣选择，当然也要服从学校的分配。即使没有选到想读的专业，上大学以后也可以转，或者研究生的时候可以再选，所以不用太早纠结选择专业。关于大学的申请我提前了两年开始规划文书，写完也找了中介帮忙修改。每年暑假我都会去美国访校，我也建议有能力的同学尽量多去访校，看看自己喜欢什么样的环境和师资条件。我最后选择了加州，因为那里文化比较多元和包容，教育体系也很成熟。
