2019年6月10日下午CAS时间，上海宏润博源学校举行2019届英语辩论赛。本次辩赛共两场，有两个辩题。在大礼堂大舞台聚光灯下，辩手们展开了激烈的“角逐”。

During the CAS time on June 10th, our school held the 2019 English Debate. There were two rounds of debate focusing on 2 different propositions.Sitting on the stage of the auditorium and shone by the spotlights from overhead, those competitors were ready for a keen competition.

懒惰是不是人类的希望之光

个辩题是“懒惰是不是人类的希望之光”，本场赛队正方是由Chris校长带领，有Elanor,王琼悦和张心怡三位同学组成，另一支队伍由杨洲笛老师带领的郦之萱，普周琦和许书阳三位同学组成的反方。The first round of debate focused on the proposition ---Is laziness the light of hope for human beings? Led by Principal Chris, the pro team was made up of 3 students: Elanor, Olivia Wang and Krista Zhang. Led by Michael Yang, the con team consisted of 3 students: Tris Li, Jerry Pu and Jimmy Xu.

开头陈述部分双方表现得沉稳认真，自信满满。在互相提问反驳环节时又不断强调自己的观点，在“效率”，“放松”等字眼上细细切磋了一把。总结环节更是令人拍手叫好，观点十分独到。辩手们来来往往的“发问”“反驳”进行得不亦乐乎，最终在现场同学和评委的投票之下，正方获胜!

During the opening presentation, both teams behaved calmly, seriously and confidently. During the cross-examination time, they kept emphasizing their own standpoints, and thoroughly exchanged their views on such terms as “efficiency” and “relaxation”. They did even better when they gave their concluding speeches, which were filled with unique viewpoints. The competitors of both teams were kept busy cross-examining each other. Finally, evaluated by several judges and voted by all the students present, the pro team won.

“握手”言和

宣布胜负之后Chris校长起身，一一与对手握手。After the result was announced, Principal Chris stood up, came over to the con team, and shook hands with each of his rivals.

消除谎言的技术应不应该被支持

第二个辩题是“消除谎言的技术应不应该被支持”，该场赛队正方是麻志琴老师带领、由赵靖飞，顾之吉和曹育玮三位同学组成，Steven老师带领由奥珅，安哲男和顾政三位同学组成反方队伍。The second round of debate focused on the proposition ---- Should lie-killing technology be supported? Led by Irene Ma, the pro team was composed of 3 students: Jason Zhao, Gracy Gu, and Allen Cao. Led by Mr. Bonta, the con team consisted of 3 students: Eric Ao, Murphy Gu and Jackie An.

乍一看，这两支队伍旗鼓相当，很难预测谁胜谁负。开辩后，双方辩手在听到对方犀利的问题时脸上并没有一丝的慌乱，巧妙进行了回答与反驳。针对“撒谎”的定义和对于使用人群的考虑，双方都进行了有力地阐述和证明。最终在现场同学和评委的投票之下，反方取胜!

At first sight, it was hard to predict which team would be the winner because the two sides were so well-matched that neither could gain the upper hand. During the cross-examination time, though faced with daggers-like questions, both teams responded and refuted in a skilful way rather than appearing nervous and confused. Both sides strongly illustrated and demonstrated the definition of lies as well as consideration to be given to different groups of people to whom lies are supposed to be told. Evaluated by the judges and voted by all the students present, the con team won the competition.

辩论赛圆满完成了。留给同学们的思考和启发却是深远的，给我们一个展示奇思妙想的舞台，我们还你一个精彩，这就是SHBS同学们的志向，我们会成为更好的自己!The English debate ended with complete success. Our students benefited a lot from such activity. So long as the school provide us with a stage where we can express our novel and intriguing ideas, we will promise the school a splendid show. Students of SHBS are full of ambitions, and by aiming at our ambitions we will better ourselves.
