Dear teachers, students and parents:

各位老师，同学，家长们：

Happy 2019!祝大家2019年快乐!

A new year brings new opportunity and a fresh perspective on what we can achieve together, as well as the opportunity to look back upon what we’ve accomplished. As a young school, we’ve done something amazing just in opening our doors—we’ve begun traditions and started mapping pathways to excellence, we’ve hosted students from Italy and had an incredible arts festival.

新的一年带给我们新的机会和视角，让我们重新审视已经取得的成就，也让我们看到我们共同努力可以造就的辉煌。作为一所年轻的学校，我们已经取得了了不起的成绩：我们已开始建立良好的校园文化和传统并开始绘制通往卓越的道路，我们接待了来自意大利的交换生，并且举办了的精彩非凡的艺术节。

Yet so many more opportunities remain for each of us and for our community: to act as leaders, to take risks and try new things, to explore our creative potential, to nurture our own initiative and step beyond our normal routines.

不过，我们每个人以及我们这个大家庭依然有许多锻炼和成长的机会：主动担当起领导者的角色，勇敢地去冒险去尝试新事物，不断地发掘我们的创造潜能，持续地培养我们的积极主动性，坚定地跨出我们的舒适区，到更大的舞台上挑战自我。

My hope for 2019 is that each of us, every day, will ask the question, “How have I helped?” What opportunity did I take to make something better, to lend assistance, to solve a problem?

2019年我对大家的希望是：我们每个人，每一天，都会问这样一个问题：“我提供了怎样的帮助?我有抓住怎样的机会让事情变得更好，为他人提供帮助或者解决了问题吗?”

We needn’t always have a grand answer. It may be something as simple as having picked up a piece of trash, or complimented someone on a job well done.

我们并不总是要有一个宏大的答案，也可以是捡垃圾，称赞某人工作做地好这样简单的小事。

Indeed, I think it’s best to start small, no matter how big our aspirations. Our attitude, our orientation in the world, our steps each day: these lead us to greatness as much if not more than dreams and ideals. Having helped without being asked, having seen a way to make something better without anyone identifying a problem—these are the traits that distinguish brilliance and create the most potential for future success.

事实上，不管我们的抱负有多大，我们都应该从小事做起。我们的态度，我们的自我定位，我们每一天的步伐：这些才是能与梦想和理想比肩，真正让我们变得卓越的事情。在没有人提出要求的情况下主动提供帮助，在没有人指出问题之前找到方法让事情变得更好——这些才是真正凸显我们的才华和让我们在未来取得成功的特质。

With all of us looking, each day, to answer this question, I am certain we will have a truly fantastic new year!
