春、夏交界，6月2日，一如既往的炎热，太阳贪婪而无情地炙烤大地。慵懒的我慢慢悠悠从床上爬起，看着镜中枯草般的头发凝望了五秒钟突然想起今天要参加上海宏润博源学校的垃圾捡拾公益活动，我开始洗漱。但是当我踏出寝室门的那一刻，我还是后怕了。翻滚的热浪肉眼可见。

On June 2nd, a day at the end of spring and the beginning of summer, the minute we walked outside our dorm building, we were wrapped up by an overwhelming heatwave.

环保活动

我快速走到校车上，抢占舒适的位置，这天气真的让人无可奈何。车子发动行驶了几公里，打开门的那一刻，我的腿不受大脑控制，尽管我在告诉自己快下车，但是实在是太热了，防晒霜根本起不了作用，让人欲哭无泪。按小组分好工，我们走向了不同的起点。起点就是一个小湖，草地看似绿油油，其实内有玄机，我们队伍马上开始搜查。香烟头、塑料瓶要多少有多少。还有不知名动物的粪便，这是魔鬼地带吧。奔溃，我满脑子只有一个字——逃!After we divided up duties for each group, we headed for different locations where we were supposed to start up. Our group was to start picking up garbage by a small lake surrounded by grasslands. Shiny green as they appeared, they were actually the hiding place for all kinds of rubbish. Soon after our team began searching around, we were astonished to find numerous cigarette butts, plastic bottles and even excrement left by unknown animals. We felt really horrified and disgusted at the sight of this devil’s territory.

沿路一直往前走，地上陆续出现了让人费解的垃圾，拖鞋、尿不湿、酒瓶子……这是前国家主席江主席亲自点名的江南古镇吗?我无奈地笑了笑。可能是我人高马大，被王老师“看中”，接下来的时间我和王老师殿队伍最后，有垃圾必捡，没垃圾必翻。当我看到几个三轮车的姥爷，安详自得的抽着烟，随手扔烟头的动作那是一个潇洒，我就气得鸡皮疙瘩都起来了!当走到旅游景点的时候，这垃圾更加吓人，时不时有几个成年男子困惑地看着我们，还有小孩子问父母我们在干什么，父母回答“在做好事”。也就这些眼神和言语让我还在继续捡拾。

Walking ahead along the road, we saw a variety of garbage scattered around us, such as discarded sandals, diapers and empty liquor bottles etc. Mr. Tony Wang and I, who were walking at the very back of our team, picked up whatever garbage we found on the road and searched wherever we thought there might be trash. I was furious at seeing 3 old pedicab drivers smoking in a leisurely manner and tossing away their cigarette butts so casually. On arriving at the gate to the tourist attraction, we were horrified at the piles of trash on the ground. From time to time, some adult men took puzzled glances at us, and we even heard a kid ask his parents what we were doing. “They were working for public good.”, replied his parents. It was such warm eye contact and language that encouraged me to go on picking up.

合影留恋

渐渐的我由被动变成了主动，慢慢我意识到，这次公益活动真正的意义在于影响。光凭我们几个人朱家角的垃圾根本不够我们清理的，就算清理完了，人们的意识不改变，还会有无穷无尽的垃圾等着我们。我们捡拾垃圾，代表着我们在影响大家的意识，那些丢垃圾的人就有可能收敛，将垃圾扔进该扔的地方。想起鲁迅弃医从文，因为他知道要改变中国人要从改变人的思想开始，改变人的认识也是我们这次捡垃圾的意义所在，总之，我还是有收获的。

Gradually, I felt motivated and came to realize that the significance of this kind of public service lies in spreading positive influence on people. It is impossible for several of us to clean up all the rubbish around Zhujiajiao, and even if we did manage to do so, there would be innumerable pieces of trash waiting to be cleaned up if people didn’t change their attitude toward garbage disposal. We are trying to raise people’s awareness of properly disposal by picking up garbage. Influenced by what we were doing, those who used to litter may stop doing so and throw away their trash where it should belong. In short, I think I have benefited a lot from this kind of public service.
