上海宏润博源学校2019年5月13日下午的CAS活动是创意大赛。下课铃响，从教学楼到礼堂的一路上，同学们笑声和讨论声络绎不绝……

A Big Idea Contest took place during the CAS session on May 13th. When the last class before the CAS was over, students walked in twos and threes from the teaching building to the auditorium, talking and laughing along the way.

怀着期待而好奇心大家到礼堂内就坐，艺术老师Morris开始为大家介绍活动的具体内容和规则。原来设计的对象位于学校行政楼一楼大厅的一面白墙。可别小看这一面白墙，它正对着学校大门，是来自全国各地乃至世界各国访校者映入眼帘的“黄金地段”。学校老师曾想过张贴一些有学校标志的海报，挂上几张地图等，但是，为了让全校师生共同建设我们的大家园，同时锻炼学生的创新与协作能力，最终决定举行本次创意设计活动，让大家参与设计这面长9.9m，高2.5m的墙面壁画。

Filled with anticipation and curiosity, we took our seats in the auditorium. Morris, our art teacher, then began to explain to us what this activity was all about and its specific rules. The subject to be designed turned out to be one of the white hall walls on the first floor of the school administration building. But don’t underestimate the importance of it because it stands just opposite our school gate, at such a prime location as will first come into sight of visitors from all over the country or even around the world. Some teachers of our school had thought of putting up some posters with our school logo or some maps on this wall , but, in an attempt to bring in all teachers and students on the construction of our school community, and at the same time to develop students’ originality and instill in them a teamwork spirit, our school finally decided to hold this Big Idea Contest so that everyone could participate in the mural design on this 9,9-meter-long and 2.5-meter-tall wall.

SHBS学校老师曾想过张贴一些有学校标志的海报，挂上几张地图等，但是，为了让全校师生共同建设我们的大家园，同时锻炼学生的创新与协作能力，最终决定举行本次创意设计活动，让大家参与设计这面长9.9m，高2.5m的墙面壁画。

Some teachers of our school had thought of putting up some posters with our school logo or some maps on this wall , but, in an attempt to bring in all teachers and students on the construction of our school community, and at the same time to develop students’ originality and instill in them a teamwork spirit, our school finally decided to hold this Big Idea Contest so that everyone could participate in the mural design on this 9,9-meter-long and 2.5-meter-tall wall.

在该项活动要求里，Morris老师表示画功是考量之一，但最重要的是创新创意的想法;同时要考虑到设计的实际性：墙面是一个曲面，同学们的设计要确保在不同视角观察墙面时突出不同的重点，且在墙壁前方有两根柱子，要避开盲点;而且还要考虑到墙面的材质等问题。

Morris indicated while explaining the rules and requirements of this activity, that students’ painting technicality and the practicability of their designs should be taken into consideration, but what counts the most will be the innovative thoughts reflected in their designs. Speaking of the practicability of the designs, Morris reminded them that since the wall to be designed has a curved surface, students will have to make sure that different things are highlighted when the wall is seen from different angles. Besides, there stand two columns in front of the wall, which means students should take into consideration the blind spots while making their designs. What’s more, the texture of the wall surface is also a factor that students shouldn’t neglect.

之后Morris老师还解释了一些不同的设计风格，给同学们一些灵感。

Later, Morris introduced various styles of designing to the students, hoping to provide them with sparks of inspiration.

Chris校长和 Bowen校长也总结了参与设计这面墙的重要意义： 这将是难得的参与创作大型公共艺术的机会，也是极好的在母校留下印记，为母校发展做贡献机会，更是绝佳的自我展示机会。Principal Chris and Principal Bowen summarized the significance of participating in this design: It is a rare chance for students to participate in the creation of major public art; it is also a precious opportunity for them to leave some remarkable trace on their alma mater and contribute to the development of their old school; Last but not least, it will be a perfect occasion for them to show themselves in public.

活动结束后大家都跃跃欲试，在行政班里摩拳擦掌，用彩铅，炭笔，设计纸开始设计或记录想法，气氛好不热闹……最后期待大家提交的设计作品，并预祝本次活动举办成功!

When they went back to their own homerooms after the CAS session, eager to have a try, all students were busy drawing their designs or writing down their thoughts on papers with colored or charcoal pencils. What a lively atmosphere!
